Student Village
The University has recently unveiled ambitious plans for a dedicated 'Student Village' in the heart of Broomhill. The bad news it that it continues the trend of trying to centralise services away from the halls, so that they become little more than accomodation for first year students, with food and entertainment being provided off site.
The really bad news is that it will affect Stevo. The plans show development on the tennis courts and the site of the current dining hall, so students will either self-cater, or have to walk to a central building on the Endliffe site.
It remains to be seen if planning permission would be granted. Development on the tennis courts was previously blocked due to the proximity to Ashdell House (a listed building) and planners will be keen to preserve Broomhill's open spaces.
